Cookie policy document sections

1. Overview

This Cookie Policy explains the browser storage technologies used by magicmatchrooms.com. It should be read with the Privacy Policy. The current website is intentionally configured without third-party advertising, remote analytics, tracking pixels, social-media widgets or cross-site profiling scripts.

The website uses local storage rather than traditional HTTP cookies for its current preference controls. Similar transparency and consent principles are applied because local storage can also retain information on a device.

2. What cookies and local storage are

A cookie is a small text value that a website may ask a browser to store and return with later requests. Local storage is a browser feature that stores key-value data for a website origin and makes it available to scripts running on that origin. Session storage is similar but is normally removed when the relevant browser tab or session ends.

These technologies may be strictly necessary, functional, analytical, advertising or otherwise classified according to purpose. A technology is not considered harmless merely because it has a particular name; purpose, data involved, duration and access must all be considered.

3. Storage currently used

3.1 Age-confirmation storage

Name: magicMatchRoomsAgeConfirmed

Purpose: remembers that the visitor selected “Yes, I am 18 or older”, so the age gate does not need to be repeated on every page load.

Typical value: yes

Type: first-party local storage, used only by magicmatchrooms.com.

Duration: remains until the visitor clears site data or browser storage is otherwise removed.

3.2 Cookie-choice storage

Name: magicMatchRoomsCookieChoice

Purpose: remembers whether the visitor accepted or declined non-essential cookies, preventing the choice dialog from appearing unnecessarily on every page.

Typical values: accepted or declined

Type: first-party local storage, used only by magicmatchrooms.com.

Duration: remains until the visitor reopens cookie settings, changes the choice, clears site data or browser storage is otherwise removed.

4. Strictly necessary technologies

Strictly necessary technologies support functions requested by the visitor or essential site controls. The current preference values are used to remember age confirmation and privacy choice. Declining non-essential cookies does not disable these controls because remembering the decline is itself necessary to respect the choice and avoid repeatedly requesting consent.

5. Non-essential cookies

The current published build does not activate optional analytics, advertising, personalisation, retargeting or social-media cookies. Selecting “Accept” records the preference but does not cause third-party trackers to load because none are included. Selecting “Decline non-essential cookies” records the rejection and keeps optional technologies disabled.

If optional technologies are introduced later, they must remain disabled until valid consent is obtained where consent is required. This policy and the interface must be updated with the provider, purpose, information used, duration and withdrawal method before activation.

6. Embedded game

The Magic Match-room mini game is embedded from a local file within the same website project. Its images, styles, scripts and configuration are local. The current game does not require account cookies, advertising cookies, payment cookies or cloud-save identifiers. Game balance and outcomes exist in the running page and are not presented as real-world assets.

7. Consent standard

Where consent is used for non-essential storage or processing under the GDPR, it must be freely given, specific, informed and unambiguous. Consent must be as easy to withdraw as to give. No optional tracker should be activated merely because a visitor scrolls, closes a notice, continues browsing or fails to make a choice.

The website presents separate accept and decline controls. Access to the free site is not conditioned on accepting non-essential cookies.

8. How to change your choice

Use the “Cookie settings” button in the footer to reopen the choice dialog. You may then accept or decline non-essential cookies. You can also delete website data through your browser settings. Clearing site data removes both the cookie-choice value and the age-confirmation value, so the dialogs will appear again on a later visit.

9. Browser controls

Most browsers allow you to inspect, block and delete cookies and site storage. The location and wording of these controls vary. Blocking all storage may cause the age and cookie dialogs to reappear whenever a page is loaded, but the main content and locally embedded game should otherwise remain available after age confirmation.

Private-browsing modes, automatic data deletion, extensions and enterprise policies may also remove or block storage. We do not attempt to bypass those settings.

10. Do Not Track and global privacy signals

The current website does not run behavioural advertising or third-party analytics, so there is no optional tracking activity to disable in response to a Do Not Track setting. If future features introduce relevant tracking, recognised privacy signals will be assessed and respected where required by applicable law or supported by the implemented technology.

11. Server logs are not browser cookies

A hosting provider may create technical request logs when delivering website files. Those logs can contain an IP address and request details but are not stored in the browser as cookies. Their handling is described in the Privacy Policy and should be limited to delivery, security, troubleshooting and legal compliance.

12. Third-party technologies

No third-party front-end resources are included in the current project. All images, fonts, styles, scripts, icons and game files are local. A future external integration must be reviewed for privacy, security, international-transfer and consent implications before it is deployed.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when storage technologies, providers, purposes or legal requirements change. The “Last updated” date identifies the current version. Where a change materially affects consent, existing consent will not be treated as covering the new purpose and a fresh choice will be requested where required.

14. Contact

Questions about browser storage or privacy choices may be sent to info@magicmatchrooms.com.
